Our depots
Our Theodore depot on Railway Parade is the base for freight into the Banana Shire. It is the delivery point for our twice weekly service from Toowoomba and the staging point for deliveries further north.
Theodore is a small town doing serious freight volume, sitting between the Dawson Valley’s farming country and the Callide coal fields. Our depot here exists so that freight into the shire is handled by Wards people rather than dropped with a third party in a larger centre and forwarded on.

We run a twice weekly general freight service from Toowoomba to Theodore, and on to areas north to Dululu. Freight originating in Brisbane joins the run through our Toowoomba depot.
Twice weekly changes how you plan. On a daily service a missed cut-off costs hours; here it can cost several days, so the customers who get the most from this run are the ones who order to the schedule rather than around it. If something genuinely cannot wait, our hot shot service runs dedicated vehicles 24/7.

Freight through Theodore is a mix of station and farm supplies, machinery and parts, mine site consumables, and retail and hospitality stock for the towns themselves. Services available include general, express and full load freight, refrigerated transport, and bulk and heavy haulage.
Our customers here work in agribusiness, resources and mining, construction, trade, manufacturing, retail and hospitality. In this part of Central Queensland, agriculture and the coal industry sit side by side, and both run on parts arriving when they were promised.

The Theodore depot is not a parcel collect agency for FedEx, Big Post or TGE. For Wards consignments, call 1300 192 737 to arrange collection.

On paper, Theodore does not justify a freight depot. The population is small and the town is a long way from anywhere that consolidates freight at volume. What it does have is a district around it — irrigated cropping along the Dawson, grazing country, and the coal operations of the Callide and Dawson valleys — and that district generates freight that has to land somewhere reliable.
Without a depot here, freight for the shire gets dropped at a larger centre and forwarded by whoever is available. That is where consignments go missing, sit for days, or arrive damaged with nobody accountable. Holding our own site at Railway Parade means the freight stays with Wards until the moment it is delivered.
The service runs in both directions. Equipment heading to a workshop, produce moving to market, returns to suppliers and machinery coming off hire can all travel south through Toowoomba and on to Brisbane. Backloading on a vehicle already returning is usually the cheapest way to move something out of the region, so it is worth asking when you book.
Consignments can be followed through our online tracking using the number on your paperwork. Regular customers can apply for a credit account, and existing account holders can use the customer login. Rates are affected by the current fuel levy.
The service runs twice a week. Book early and we will have it on the next departure.
