Freight often needs somewhere to sit before it is needed. We provide warehousing, pallet storage and open laydown yards at Brisbane, Toowoomba and Roma, backed by the transport network to move it when the time comes.
Wards Transport runs warehousing and supply base services alongside the transport business, with laydown yards at Brisbane, Toowoomba and Roma. The combination matters: storage on its own is just space, but storage attached to a freight network means goods can be received, held and dispatched by the same company.
Project freight almost never arrives in the order it is needed. Pipe turns up before the fittings, plant arrives before the site is ready, and long lead items land months early. Plenty of businesses will rent you space. Fewer can receive your goods, hold them, and then put them on a truck to Charleville on Thursday. Because our yards sit alongside working depots, the handover between storage and transport happens inside one company instead of across a contract boundary.
In practice that removes the most common source of delay: goods sitting in a warehouse waiting for a carrier to be booked, collected and consolidated. Here the carrier is already on site.
Typically it is projects. Long lead items get ordered early and arrive months before they are needed; sites are not ready; and holding equipment on a live site costs space, security and sometimes safety. A laydown yard near the corridor solves all three, and lets material be released to site in the order the job actually needs it.
