Our services
Day-to-day freight is the bulk of what we do: parcels, pallets and full loads moving between Brisbane, Toowoomba and South West Queensland on scheduled runs we operate ourselves.
Wards Transport carries same day, general, express and full load freight between Brisbane, Toowoomba and all areas west to Charleville, including Dalby, Chinchilla and Roma. Alongside the line haul we run general and metro freight — local and metro deliveries on a daily and overnight basis, including contactless pickups.
In practice that covers most of what a business needs to move. A single carton to a customer in Injune, a pallet of stock to a retailer in Dalby, or a full trailer of materials to a site outside Charleville all travel on the same network.
Our scheduled services include a daily Brisbane to Roma run, a twice weekly Brisbane to Biloela service, and freight west from Toowoomba to Roma and on to Charleville. A twice weekly service runs from Toowoomba to Theodore and areas north to Dululu.
Towns we service include Brisbane, Toowoomba, Warwick, Dalby, Chinchilla, Roma, Charleville, Injune, Taroom, Theodore, Moura, Banana and Biloela. See all routes.
General freight is handled through all six of our depots: Brisbane, Toowoomba, Warwick, Roma, Charleville and Theodore. Each is staffed by our own people and can receive freight, release it for collection, or send it onward.
Because we own both ends of every run, freight is not interlined to another carrier partway. One company is accountable from pickup to delivery.
General freight travels on standard curtain-side and flat deck equipment, with drop deck, extendable and ramp trailers available when a load will not fit a conventional deck. Refrigerated units are available for temperature-controlled goods. Every vehicle in the fleet carries GPS tracking, and consignments can be followed through our online tracking using the consignment number.
Our general freight customers work in retail, hospitality, trade, construction, manufacturing, agribusiness, and resources and mining. The common thread is that most of them are sending goods somewhere that larger carriers treat as an afterthought.
Freight is charged on whichever is greater of actual weight or the cubic space it occupies, plus the current fuel levy. Give us accurate dimensions when you book and the quote will match the invoice.

Yes. Regular customers can apply for a credit account, which simplifies booking and invoicing. Existing customers can use the customer login.
Most freight problems start before the vehicle arrives. Pallets that are not wrapped shift in transit, cartons without a clear label end up on the wrong run, and consignments booked without real dimensions get re-measured at the depot and re-invoiced.
A few things make it go smoothly: wrap and strap pallets properly, label every item with the delivery address rather than just the first one, give us measurements you have actually taken, and tell us if someone needs to be on site to receive it.
Consignments can be followed through our online tracking using the consignment number on your paperwork. Every vehicle in the fleet carries GPS tracking, so if you need something more specific than a status, the depot can usually tell you where the load is and when it is expected.
Tell us what it is and where it is going. We will price it and put it on the next run.
