Our services
Mining and heavy vehicle tyres are among the most awkward things on the road: heavy, bulky, easily damaged and difficult to restrain. Moving them is a specialty of ours rather than a sideline.
A large off-the-road tyre is not simply heavy freight. It is round, which makes restraint a discipline of its own; it is expensive, so damage in transit is costly; and it is often over-width or over-height once loaded, which turns a routine delivery into a permitted movement.
Specialist tyre transport forms part of our bulk and heavy haulage service, and we carry it with the trailers and load restraint the job actually needs rather than making a standard deck do.
Depending on the size and quantity, tyre movements travel on drop deck, extendable or ramp trailers, which keep the loaded height down and make loading and unloading practical at both ends. GPS tracking is fitted across the fleet.

Tyre freight moves across our network, with most of it heading to resources and mining operations and to heavy vehicle operators through South West and Central Queensland — Roma, Charleville, Injune, Taroom, Theodore, Moura, Banana and Biloela.
Our Roma depot sits in the middle of the Surat Basin, which makes it a practical staging point for tyres heading to site.
Mine sites, civil contractors, agricultural operators, tyre suppliers and heavy vehicle workshops. For most of them a tyre arriving late means a machine parked, which is why these movements are usually planned around a changeout window rather than a delivery date.
If a changeout is booked and the tyres have to be there, our hot shot service runs urgent consignments 24/7.
Tell us the tyre size and the quantity first — those two numbers determine the trailer and whether the load becomes oversize. After that, the questions that matter are how the tyres will be loaded and unloaded, and whether the delivery site has the handling equipment to take them off. Sites that cannot unload are the most common cause of a wasted trip.
Where a movement exceeds legal dimensions it is handled as an OSOM consignment, with the permits and route planning that involves.

Depending on the loaded dimensions, yes. Over size or over mass loads are handled as OSOM movements.

Most freight has a flat face to strap against. Tyres do not. They want to roll, they deform under strap tension, and a restraint arrangement that looks secure in the yard can loosen over a few hundred kilometres of corrugated road.
Getting it right is a matter of the correct trailer, the correct stacking arrangement and enough restraint for the actual road rather than the ideal one. It is the part of tyre transport that separates carriers who do it regularly from those who take it on once.
Tyre deliveries are usually tied to a changeout window rather than a delivery date. The machine is scheduled to come down, the crew is booked, and the tyres need to be on site before that starts — not the same afternoon.
Tell us the changeout date when you book rather than a delivery date, and we can work backwards to a collection that leaves some margin. Where a window is tight or has moved, our hot shot service runs dedicated vehicles 24/7.
Tyre freight is not only one way. Used and scrap tyres often need to come off site for disposal or retreading, and backloading them on a vehicle already returning east is usually the cheapest way to do it.

Tyre work sits within our bulk and heavy haulage service, which also covers heavy lift and OSOM consignments. Tyres can be staged at our laydown yards at Brisbane, Toowoomba or Roma ahead of a changeout.
Give us the size and the quantity and we will tell you what it takes.
